The half-dozen votes removed from this image and the users perma-banned for mass downvoting images like this would tend to disprove that oh so passive-aggressive assertion there, mate. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Just because you assume particular motivations are at play doesn’t mean they are, or even that they exist.
This is the exact reason why I prefer the EG humanizations, as they remain more or less race neutral.
I hadn’t even noticed the downvotes before this point. Now I want to slap people until I’ve knocked all the stupid out of them. I am aware that will take a very long time.

Oh trust me, they do. Not as often, granted, but it has happened. Apparently some people are incapable of accepting portrayals that don’t exactly match their headcanon.
And then others come along to stoke the flames further, as this thread unfortunately demonstrates.

I don’t have a strong opinion for or against the concept, I mostly just find it out of place at worse. Just a thing really.
I do wish people would simply stick to EG colortones when they humanize, as it bypasses the race argument almost entirely. It’s also as canon as we’ll ever get.
I like muslimshy, she looks cute. Helps that plenty of my friends wear headscarves.
But yeah, I sympathize with artists. Brown skin is much harder than white, in terms of lighting, color contrast… pen ink (not such a problem on a screen, but still a consideration in print).

Orange tones work much better it’s true. I think it’s because the show generally lends itself to a warmer palette.

While I don’t mind her being black too much myself, I see your point.
I think people need to remember that objections with a religion’s beliefs shouldn’t translate to disliking the actual people who follow it, too.
I have major issues with Islam as an ideology, but there’s nothing wrong with most Muslim people. Most aren’t fundamentalists and don’t take everything in their book literally. So I don’t see any reason to have such a kneejerk reaction against something like this.
Yes, well, unfortunately it seems these images are magnets to all the /pol/ trolls on the site…
