Buttwings could work, just if they were the same size, or possibly larger. Alrhough, there is the advantage of the bone and muscles not changing the physical apearance, if you were say, creating life in real life snd wanted a winged humanoid.

I suppose that could be the case, as far as muscles go. Wouldn’t be able to fly very well (without magic) but I suppose they wouldn’t hamper movement or impair strength like they might were they located up around the shoulders (assuming they had proper musculature of their own rather than being degraded vestigial organs like our nictating membranes).

Hi! xxmarkingxx here, I understand why the hip wings would bother you like that. I was attempting to give more of a succubus look based out of the Albedo character in Overlord as I feel I’ve done too many enormous wings in human characters and wanted to change things up a bit. That said I went for a model that looked more aesthetically pleasing than realistically feasible. Thank you for your input though and I appreciate you liking the rest of the image. : D

Hate the low set mini wing thing honestly.Think about muscle and bone structure for a few moments and then it suddenly makes sense why this wouldn’t work not to mention how much heavier a head and torso is than legs which would mean that anytime she was flying it would be like a constant plank excercise making it more than likely impossible to actually use said wings. I can somewhat give the wing size a pass given the magic of the world though.  
I absolutely love the rest of the picture though.
