Will you be focusing on stabbing, robbing, or bluffing? …ah, right, rogues have lots of Skill Points, so they can focus almost on all things simultaneously.

(At first you all can start with printed/digital pages from the D&D handbooks, since they are not super-cheap to buy in physical form. Though having everything non-digital is of course more fun, since the electronics are not distracting you from the game.)
If you want to do it online, I’m always gamed, though 3.5 is the one I know much about.
