Hugobertington.Esq is the one who cares. He’s the one accusing the writers of being idiots for a minor nitpick that is likely out of their control. This wouldn’t be so bad if people weren’t constantly making jabs at the writers over everything, even things that aren’t part of the script.
I assume that the storyboarder’s job is to interpret the script. I don’t see why this even remotely matters, but one could always ask the writer/storyboarder what the deal is with this scene.
Why are you being so petty about this, anyway? Who honestly cares?
We don’t have the script. For all you know it could simply say that applejack kicks the rocks. It’s up to the storyboard artists to decide how the character moves and what poses they make.

She wants to break the rocks down not shatter the entire cave and the surrounding area.
Uh… if the script says “Applejack flails at the rocks with her forehooves”, that’s what happens.
Writers don’t decide how characters move.
Well, she made rocks fall, not outright break the roof, which I believe says more about the stability of the cave’s structure than her own strength (especially considering AJ hitting this pile of rocks did the same thing).
Let’s not forget that it was Dash who with one strike broke a solid cave roof into ruble. Ponies are crazy strong.
be fair she was trying to be a bit more cautious with it. but it shows that busting up rocks are far from beyond earth ponies.
