You are now imagining Dorkalis as the only female other than cosplayers at a Star Trek convention, playing in the big Star Fleet Battles tournament.

Apparently she favors Feds, which is a little odd–her get-close-by-trickery, up-close-and-personal, bring-all-the-aggro fighting style seems more suited to the Romulans. The Federation ships are heavyweight boxers with lots of long-range firepower, plastering their foes with a hailstorm of photon torpedoes from three quarters of the way across the map. It’s other factions that have the quick, nimble ships with cloaking devices that are built to get close in and phaser your phace off.

(for the board game nerds whose antennae just twitched at that: it’s a real boardgame, or at least it was in the 80s and 90s. I don’t know if the publisher is still in business or if any of it is still in print, but it was an extremely complex starship combat simulator, and it has, or at least had, a small but devoted following)

I love this version of Chrysalis. Captain Kirk would show her some “diplomacy” and solve the episode’s problems during a commercial break.
