The only reason I might see Shining be upset with Flash specifically is because he’s actually his boss, so it’s like the kid’s overstepping his professional boundaries. That much I can at least understand - but honestly if this moment ever happened in-canon, I don’t think the show would really touch on that more complicated dynamic - it’d just be a classical romance conflict where Shining feels jealous/protective more or less because he’s the brother and “that’s how it’s supposed to be”.

You really know what you’re saying. Flash doesn’t seem to be a bad guy so there’s no need for shining to interrupt them. Still, he has good intentions. I don’t think shining would be that much of a dick to do that just for the hell of it, he’s doing that because he cares about her and wanna make sure nothing bad happens. It’s like when we’re getting old but our parents still worry too much about us: it’s annoying but they just want the best for us, so they need to see we can take care of ourselves.
 
If twilight explained that to him, things could be different. She’s an adult, not a filly

When asshole brothers act like their sister is their property and they control who is allowed to mingle with the family genepool, as if the sister has absolutely no right or even the ability to consent and is being taken advantage of somehow
 
Really, I fucking hate this mentality. It’s a concept from the dark age that somehow still survives today. It goes both ways for brothers and sisters I guess - and you have to understand how it’d make someone feel uncomfortable at least, but still. If you ever try to get in the way between your sibling and someone they’re interested in just for the sake of it, with no real reason to worry about their safety, you’re a dick.
