For that matter, magic that can change a character’s physical sex has also canonically existed since “Magic Duel”. It’s established as difficult and beyond most unicorns’ ability, but it’s still presented as something that exists and can be done by sufficiently powerful magic users.

I more want to see the parents react to who their au self is with.
I feel bad for them to be honest. Useful things have been learned sure, but damn. That said fuck bugs.

I really don’t mind pairing Luna with an OC or a Nightguard, mostly because I like seeing her have nightly Bat Pony children (though adoption could also work with that too like what Silfoe did with her TwiLuna offspring). A lot of the Next Gen OCs with her I like aesthetically usually have an OC as the other parent. Crystal Clarity was definately my favorite of the two but I liked both.
A crossover would be rather sweet.
They are. They’re usually used due to them being low matience, don’t live very long, but are also mammals like us (insects are used for testing too but since they’re not biologically like us, they’re kind of a bit harder to use).

I hated that Nidra came from Luna x a random. Well he was a night guard OC that Kilala created, but Luna x night guard or an OC is a peeve of mine. It seems to be the case with her a lot in these situations. Turquoise Blitz was a little boring in both design and personality to me, Crystal Clarity was better imo.

I didn’t really have all too much favorites either outside of Dove. I liked Nidra and the Dracony kids in terms of aesthetics though. (To be quite honest with you, I haven’t really read much of the fanfics or surrounding lore involving her older Next-Gen OCs. But I really love her art so I enjoy looking at it from time to time so I guess that kinda makes me a casual fan of hers.)
I recently saw it among a few others too for myself and I’m glad she’s doing it too. It also softens the blow so to speak that she doesn’t hate her old characters and isn’t giving/selling them away, so like I said earlier, if she ever wants to use them again in the future, she can if she wants to. So in a case like this, she can have her cake and eat it too. She can flesh out these new characters and be happy with them but once in a while she can dig up her old characters and use them too.
I agree. It’s very annoying. And unfortunately with some of these people, it’s going to be like talking to a brick wall and they won’t listen period no matter how hard you try to reason with them. That kind of attitude to have about a group of people (who aren’t even doing anything wrong or hurting anyone) is really unhealthy and hurts so many people. And even though we humans don’t have that luxury right now, scientists are more or less working on it. They have successfully created babies from same sex rat couples (I think they used bone marrow).
I don’t believe I had a favorite in her original. I like Amber’s little crush on Claire though. I also wanted Hot Head to win over Whirlwind. There really was a time where I was okay with her parent ships, even Flashlight. How things change.
I saw the post. I’m glad she’s doing it. I was very intrigued when they were still a “what if” AU. It helped that this set is more in line with my personal preferences.
I would like to see some stories wrapped up in the original universe.
It’s so damn annoying, but I feel like every time I try to fight back against people like that regarding same sex pairings in general I’m fighting a losing battle. It hurts to be part of the LGBT community and see people implying or outright saying that things like that shouldn’t exist or we shouldn’t. Like, let us be happy goddamn it. This show has magic, let use it for a luxury we just don’t have, at least at the moment.

And kinda yes and kinda no. I didn’t see Kilala’s exact post but I did hear about her issues about the original Next-Gen cast from word of mouth.
And good point. Plus, she recently made art of Nidra so that’s more than enough proof that even though she’s going to be focusing on this new cast, she still might draw and do stuff with the older cast from time to time.
And yeah, that’s the unfortunate thing about those type of complaints. With a lot of these Next-Gens, even if there’s an equal amount or a large amount of hetero pairings, people still get super anal whenever magical gay/lesbian spawn appear. And I think it’s dumb. We’ve had magic that was able to change character’s species before (like what happened in the Breezie episode or in the movie with the Hippogriffs/Seaponies) but nah, magical gay babies is where people gotta throw their suspension of disbelief out the window it seems. Sometimes not even magical gay babies. Sometimes just characters being anything but straight (like what happened with Lop’s art of Trixie’s father) is enough to get these people super pissed.
I hope she just keeps Dove, such a nice design and has nice loving parents.
Also, not sure if you seen Kilala’s post on why she was rebooting, but basically she realized how forced the ships for her original cast were, at least in her mind. She said she made them all straight because that was what was popular (SoarinDash and Dislestia are staple ships for her it seems however). And obviously recently Kilala has fully realized her sexuality and is now reflecting that in her art.
The original characters will still be around in her heart, that’s why she’s not selling them off and still using at least some of them in this new AU.
Of course people were complaining “too much gay! Too many spawns it doesn’t even make sense blah blah mare x mare can’t have foals blah blah.” Even though her new gen is a pretty good balance between straight and gay. Look at this.

That’s a relief. I was worried she got it severly broken or damaged.
That’s good. I’m glad some of her older characters from her first AU are carrying over onto this one because I liked quite a bit of them.
I liked Dove too. And I think she might do that. She did retcon the Trixie and Stallion from Prance in her original Next-Gen idea anyways and made her the offspring of Starlight and Trixie there. So doing that again with this one makes sense to me.

Same here. Speaking of, I did hear she might be carrying over Dove into this second Next-Gen AU too. I wonder if there would be any changes to her for this specific AU.
Also in the other pictures, Geode seems to either have her bangs covering her horn (or alternatively, her horn is now missing).
