Well there are several reasons I could go into but seeing that this is the last season I wouldn’t want MLP to try anything new that would be that ambitious and then have the series end immediately afterwards.
 
A self-contained episode where Sunset Shimmer actually returns to Equestria probably isn’t doable in the sense that writing that idea into a 22 minute time slot is an impossibly tall order.
 
The bare minimum of being able to pull off this idea would be to include her in the series finale. However that also depends on whether or not this series is going to end with a bang or end quietly. I don’t think we’re going to get it but personally I would prefer a somber, quiet, peaceful, ending.
 
However I am very confident we are going to get something loud, bombastic, and about 80% chance that the series ends on a political note.

the fandom was what made MLP great and I do not think it will die for a long time and it is true the ideas and stories of the fans are better than those of the program

It’s kinda disappointing to see the series end but I personally think it’s for the better, after Season 8 I really felt that the show was dying and it was running out of ideas to the moment that the show was losing its spark. Season 8 was honestly not that good for me save for a few episodes via Molt Down but I still felt that the series is starting to finally lose its touch.
 
Characters like Rainbow Dash, Rarity and the CMC have already fulfilled their dreams and it seems like their arcs have come to a conclusion, and sure just because one’s arc is over doesn’t mean it’s over and I do believe in new beginnings but I wanna know will that new beginning be better than the last one? Will G5 if we even get it be better than the last generation? Probably not, but like with TTG we can just leave it to younger viewers or those who can actually appreciate it.
 
And just because the series is coming to an end, doesn’t mean the fanbase isn’t. It’s still alive and there are fans that create their own ideas better than the ones we receive from the actual show, and just waiting for writers to get their act together just makes me feel like a damsel in distress, I know there are a lot of G4 fans and are keeping the 4th generation alive and are still inspired to make their own stories and ideas.
 
Part of me, doesn’t want the show to end but after 8 whole seasons I feel it’s not the same anymore and I’m actually sick of waiting for something better for the writers to come up with. It was a good ride but I think it’s time we finally got off our high horse and invent our own ideas while inspiring others and keep the fanbase alive.
