Marble Pie would have been better but both cartoons, shows, anime, and everything in between have a tendency to disappoint fans no matter what.
 
Up until that episode where you officially meet Sugar Belle, everyone was like “who’s this douche bag”
 
not the worst canon ship…but definitely up there in the top 20s

And in both universes, the relationships of the characters tend to eclipse. The Cakes are together, Bon Bon and Lyra clearly have something going on together, and obviously the little nod with Cheerilee and Big Mac.

There was also that shot in the Equestia Girls music video showing Big Mac and Cheerilee together. Looks as though their human counterparts also dated.
 
Yeah, but EG ships are different than the ones in MLP. Here we have Bulk Biceps on a date with Octavia while on EG he’s dating Derpy

It’s possible after all this time Cheerilee still has a thing for him, per the Filli Vanilli swoon. It’s clear that if there was anything between them, Mac broke it off offscreen. Same with Marble Pie.
 
And we are not privy to such breakup. That’s my main point of contention. Frankly, I couldn’t care less if these past relationships ended with bloodshed or casually sitting down and breaking it gently. I’d just like to see some proper closure to it.
