Portals don’t hinder the visible spectrum. There’d have to be a specific limitation preventing other types of electromagnetic radiation from passing through, which is unlikely. Also, stepping through a portal (assumedly) doesn’t disrupt bioelectric functions (e.g. the nervous system, cell and tissue regulation, the electrical conduction system of the heart).
 
So I’d say yes. If the portal introduces interference, the signal might be weaker but it’d get across.

I miss the show so much
If you take a cell phone with you through the portal to Equestria, then stay near the portal, will you get reception? Do radio waves pass through unhindered? What about wires? If you get a long extension cord, plug in the other end and take the other end throug the portal, will electricity come through?
 
Questions that will never be answered. :-(
