The world would have blown up and everyone would die horrible, fiery deaths from which there would be no escape.

It would not only upset the food chain, but the process of natural selection would be thrown out of whack.  
They wouldn’t see horrible repercussions…. not immediately anyways.

Natural selection does not work that way. Unless those monsters also, ahem, had their way with any females they came across, they would have ZERO impact on rabbit traits, simply due to the fact that they would not live long enough to make a difference. The second those two fucked with a wolverine or some other predator, they would be toast.
