I don’t think this is a hate of clowns so much as it is a hate of ugly frog faces. Even by pepe standards something about this looks more fugly than normal. No offense to the artist.
 
I for one think Twiclown is an adorable little persona.

In part yes, in another part it’s identity change. You become another, constructed persona, and in this case a persona of light comedy, fun, and mindless enjoyment at the expense of societal conventions. Clowns do everything socially not okay, for example in the past it was men holding hands and hugging and touching their butts.  
There’s one theory that the painted faces and masks of shamanism are part of this archetype: the paint and the masks are meant to absorb the evil essence of what is to be banished or scare away evil spirits - because in many cultures evil spirits are afraid of loud noise and colorfully painted faces. But I’m no ethnologue.

EDIT: and no this isn’t some weird “triggered liberal” thing because of pepe the frog, I don’t care about whatever history this might have on 4chan. It needs to be banished because it’s a sin regardless of any of that.

When you study Psychology you learn to love clowns and the subconscious archetype it represents. It’s a deeply magical sub-routine in our brains.
 
Then you learn to dislike people who fear clowns. They aren’t magical.
