That is possible, but it’s not very likely. We have preliminary research suggesting already that acquired immunity is at least reasonably stable, although we don’t know how long it lasts yet, so after surviving an infection one might be immune for merely a year or two, or perhaps decades.  
As far as actual vaccines go, it looks extremely likely that at least one of the several dozen efforts will succeed in producing a safe, relatively inexpensive vaccine within a decade. It’s less likely that this will happen by the end of 2021, although there’s still a decent chance of that.  
So between natural and artificial herd immunity the chances of COVID-19 being a persistent serious threat seem pretty low. We might even wipe it out entirely, given the likely public support for a concerted extermination campaign.

Decent enough pic, got a slight chuckle out of me but the fact is nothing can stop the coronavirus. It is here to stay becuz the world failed to react fast enough. It wont end the world or anything but it will likely be a common threat much like the cold or the flu or any of the other fifty bajillion diseases floating around.
