Thing is that you absolutely can refuse a canon thing you don’t like or rewrite canon. At the end of the day MLP is a work of fiction and there is no universal objective truth to it as it is merely a product of one’s imagination.
What is really unhealthy however is trying to force your own views onto others and getting upset when someone think something that you don’t.

i hate the “its up for interpretation” thing because it was obviously done to make hasbro happy

There’s like, three primary responses to seeing that scene.
“WOO, I KNEW IT!”
“Oh wow, they’re a couple now?”
“NOT MY SHIP, IT’S NOT REAL!”

The writers also said Fluttercord is up to viewer interpretation. But all the voice actors believe AppleDash is canon and Vogel suggested that he sees them together, in a few occasions.

How comfortable is your life that people not liking a ship or creatives leaving something ambiguous bothers you this much?

I genuinely think nurturing a culture of “I won’t accept a ship I don’t like in fiction” is really unhealthy. It basically pushes that creators will not commit to anything that won’t “please as many fans as possible.” Commit to it, and let the tears of those upset wash away and dry quickly. They’ll move on.

Like, how comfortable is your life that you really are going to go into a depressive fit because two cartoon horses got married.

Mental health is important. It teaches you perspective.
