You are correct, which is why I said it was a complaint in general towards the video game industry rather than Mane6. On the other hand, what Mane6 did was not showing anything.

I’ll agree that when a game in-development starts showing DLC to your face leaves a bad taste in one’s mouth (I believe the last fighting games that did this were KOFXV and BB Cross Tag, can’t remember if Melty did it too) but this game has been released for a while and we already had a few DLC releases so when they announced more DLC I kinda expected a little more than just knowing it exists (which we already knew beforehand because of the console release announcement). Like @Snicky said, Mane6 will show stuff very soon, but until then we have this period where they just told us to get hype for… nothing?

I should probably mention that I’m in no way putting in question the quality of the DLC, nor the pass, nor implying any sort of greed or bad faith behaviour from part of the devs and I’ll get it since they have a pretty banging trade record for anything besides doing things on schedule, I just think it was a lackluster announcement to make at the end of a tournament.

All fighting games do the same thing with their season passes. Strive is doing it, Tekken 7 did it, Street Fighter V did it, hell, SMASH BROS ULTIMATE DID IT TOO. It’s a fine business model.

Why did they even post this if there’s nothing actually being offered yet? It’s a very strange thing to do. It came off as greedy up until I saw that you can’t actually buy the passes yet. But they’re advertising for the passes, without the content, and whilst that doesn’t smell so rotten, it still smells odd. This was just such a pointless thing to show off this early.

The devs mentioned there will be more details at the PC Gaming Show on July 12th. Chances are they are saving the character announcement for that.

I have to say, not even knowing anything about the first character is kinda unhype. Don’t fighter passes usually show at least the first character or two?

They got bought out by Modus which means more $$$ and human resources and thus faster production time.

While I agree “small character selection” is something that get criticized a lot about TFH by regular fighting game players, I’m not sure how the hell they will manage to make 4 of them in such a short time, considering how long it took them to do Shanty.

Everyone’s been clamoring that they want more characters, right? Well, here’s more characters!

Typically for fighting games Season Passes are permanent - they’re just DLC bundles.

I hope it’s not a timed season pass.
