I left the fandom. Although that's not entirely accurate. I left the "main" fandom, because of the last season, and how I won't be part of a community that accepts it. I am still part of a more or less splinter group.
I am still as much of a fan of the good parts of FIM as I have ever been, and that will never change. The community changed, and no longer aligns with what I'm a fan of, that's what I mean by "left the main fandom". If people respond to this by strawmanning by arguments or just doing the "but mah canon" argument trying to justify this, I usually just block them. I have no desire to interact with anyone that accepts this, or be part of a community that is willing to accept this. But there are some people that just genuinely don't understand why I feel the way I do, which is why I do tend to explain it sometimes. More than a few times, I've heard "wow you're right, I never thought of that".
