Pretty sure it’s just an ordinary cow steak, but because ponies are herbivores (and cows are basically people too), beef would be hard to het a hold of. So to get this steak for you, she went where the carnivores live, and it wouldn’t be hard to believe that Griffons (being part feline and part avian) would have a lot of meat in their diets.

I’m pretty sure you’re on point there, but the fact is Rarity probably just finds it amusing enough, if not arousingly pleasing [to watch the devouring of meat], as any divergent individual in a society may be, if not it demonstrates the length she’ll go for the companion she’s got hearts for.

On one hoof I believe that the society that has no need or history of flesh consumption will find the idea extremely repulsive. On the other - for a long time they live along purely predatory species like dogs and (possibly) griffons, so ponies are probably thought themself tolerate to that aspect of other nations.
Yet I can imagine the shitstorm that was raging in the horse enlightenment era or something, when the cultures first collided.
