To me, a dolly is how we moved cargo containers between aircraft. The tug could haul a train of up to 4 LD7 dollies at a time from the warehouse/hangar to the K-loader/Main Deck Loader at the aircraft.
Interesting. Same general idea as a furniture dolly, only much bigger.
Meanwhile, I’m wondering if Green Dude ever did take advantage of the hand truck, or if he’s still groaning under the weight.

To me, a dolly is a small flat thing with 4 wheels you put under furniture to move it (or it’s the thing used between two semi-trailers in a double bottom rig).
To me, a dolly is how we moved cargo containers between aircraft. The tug could haul a train of up to 4 LD7 dollies at a time from the warehouse/hangar to the K-loader/Main Deck Loader at the aircraft.

No reason to worry about topic shifts. I didn’t say it was a BAD thing. :P
Though on that note, I have gotten comments about her lack of visible nipple in that top. The geometry doesn’t really allow for anything like that, but there is so much interest that perhaps I should look into doing something with a bump map or something to give a subtle little suggestion.

I got to climb all over it on a layover at Bellevue. It was parked right in front of the old roundhouse.
Got to spend a week working with the restoration crew in the steam shop in Birmingham in 86 (? think that was the year). Lots of big parts and big tools.

I’m used to hearing them called “dolleys” or “hand carts”, but I’ve heard “hand truck” too.
The only time I’ve used one was when my Dad borrowed one to move my stuff into my uni accomodation, which was mumbles what, nearly half my life ago; how did that happen? I mean, anyway I think he called it a “porter’s trolley?”

I know I read a fanfic once which claimed it was only called a “cutie mark” on a mare and on a stallion it was just a “mark,” but I think that was just trying to worldbuild in a fic that was written during Season 1. I’ve not herd it since.

I was just laughing at myself for taking half a minute to figure out that a “hand truck” was a dolly. Didn’t intend to start WWIII. 😅
Bringing up English language/dialect differences is always going to open a tin can of worms.

I would also hear dolly as a flatbed device with probably casters in the corners.

At this rate “drops off” might become just “drops.” I suspect “meet” could be replaced by a… more intimate… verb also.

I’ve worked with various railroad museums (many years ago), so I’m familiar with CSX, NS, and Santa Fe language. Were you around when NS ran 1218? That was an impressive engine.

That’s a pretty common name for them.
Wikipedia agrees hand truck is the common name for them, and gives hand trolley, dolly, stack truck, trundler, box cart, sack barrow, cart, sack truck, two wheeler, or bag barrow as synonyms. On the railroad we always called them hand trucks.
To me, a dolly is a small flat thing with 4 wheels you put under furniture to move it (or it’s the thing used between two semi-trailers in a double bottom rig).
