I contribute to TrancyMick’s Patreon (the original creator of sergals, some crazy gal from Japan), and she’s drawing a manga that actually outlines what their civilization is really like. Not all sergals are drooling barbarian cannibals, and the ones who are? It’s because they’re exposed to toxic substances in the local food chain. They basically have ergotism. Also, their planet is a terrifying deathworld full of creatures that will shoot toxic spines at you to paralyze you and make you easier to devour whole.

Its basically what you get when you cross and anthropomorphise a combination of raptor, wolf and shark.
