DUSTY IS BEST CAPTAIN

@Tenafly Viper
The original ending is better. Lightning Dust does not seem responsible enough to turn around that fast. Also, her character has no redeeming traits.

She has plenty.

@DashForever
I think the original ending is much better, and leaves room for best antagonist to come back.

Nope. It was a total waste of a great character.

Just one thing bothers me…
Why the heck would Rainbow Dash drop Gilda as a friend, but give Lightning Dust another shot so easily? Gilda was a jerk to Dash’s other friends, but I do not recall her doing something that could result in their deaths! Perhaps this is why the scene was cut…

Because it was an accident and Rainbow created the tornado too.

@ArrJaySketch
I liked the ending as it was shown. It leaves a lot open for the future.

And years later there still is no trace of Lightning Dust.

Well, this most certainly explains why Lightning Dust would come to Ponyville’s defense in the comics and why she and Dash are apparently hanging out in the Fluttershy book (based on what I’ve seen on TvTropes, please do correct me if I am mistaken). Both endings are good in their own right, but this one explains those two things.

The aired ending left it up to the viewer to determine if LD learned her lesson or not, like “The Lady and the Tiger”.
The tweeted ending redeems LD on the spot.

I actually liked the original ending better because it gave Lightning Dust a reason to return sometime in the future (namely, a grudge against Rainbow Dash).

Even if it’s “old” I never saw it personally, so some of us actually missed out on some of these Twitter posts, as we don’t use Twitter much.

I suppose that would’ve been a slightly better ending to show Lightening Dust be a good sport about it.

Wasn’t this already mentioned, like 10 or so days after the episode aired?
