When I first checked out the show 2 years ago, the fans were arguing over the shipping implications of the new episode while ignoring what it was actually about. The fandom has sure come a long way since then.
Mac and Cheerilee do have a history of trolling shippers.

And this is the joke of the episode in a nutshell. The original band Milli Vanilli was ruined when it was discovered the two “singers” performing on stage were in fact lip-synching prerecorded songs by a studio group. Cheerilee here is being defrauded by Mac and Shy the same way the original Milli Vanilli fangirls were.
The difference of voices between Big Mac and Flutterguy are subtle but wouldn’t have made a difference to her.
