This is the real point. Even if the majority of images are safe, it seems like porn is what always commands the most attention. Too bad there’s not a very good way to quantify attention.

im curious how many of the “safe” images are good quality, not screencaps with a meme on it, and how many don’t feature cosplaying people.

This pie chart is a bit… Misleading. While it would have been accurate with safe, questionable, suggestive, and explicit, when you add things like grotesque and grimdark, you could have 1 post that counts three times on the pie chart. This means this chart represents more than 100% of derpibooru’s content. Time for some hard fucking numbers.

You have to also remember that this is just after a episode was shown, and there will be quite a bit of safe screen caps of that episode. Such a flood of images would cause the rest of the stuff like explicit to shrink a bit.
 
It’ll most likely get to the size you thought it would be after a few weeks of no new episodes and artists start drawing stuff because they are bored.

There’s too much safe art! we must change that!

Explicit is just as big as I thought it would be. As in bigger than Grotesque, Grimdark, Semi-grimdark, suggestive, and Questionable combined. But not nearly as big as safe.
