The stage name, yes. The fandom brought about his real name, to which Andy acknowledges.
I thought Andy gave him the name in his first appearance.
He first appeared in Issue #11, in the spread with Vinyl getting her CM, here >>434545 . That was the only time we see him in that issue and people thought he was Vinyl’s father until Andy confirmed he anticipated him to be a brother. But didn’t give a name, so that’s when came on Smooth Beat to start.
Then Issue #12 came out and we get this: >>460235 which gives the “33 1/3 LP” stage name, and that’s where using Long Play as the real name came from.
“Appeared before”? When?
Oh god!
Those flickering, those high-pitched screaching from the devices….
Good and bad times.
Vinyl’s brother was not “named” 33 1/3 LP until the second issue of the Shining/Cadance arc (and then Long Play fell out from that), but appeared before. So there were fan names for him with Smooth Beat being the predominate one.
Where does this come from?
So far, I knew of 33 1/3 LP and Long Play.
Good times indeed.
I remember putting a strong-ass magnet to the corner of my old CRT TV as a kid. It carried that off-colored patch until the day we changed it out for our current LCD TV.
I think the fucking thing still works too. But it’s stashed in the basement so hellifikno.
CRTs and PSXs/N64s, those were some good times.
