So, here we have three of the four leaders of The Imperialist Diamond Society. White Diamond, Blue Diamond, and Pink/Red Diamond. Yellow Diamond is currently at Homeworld readying a few gems back from the Thousand Year War for Earth to go and arrest Peridot: Facet 2F5L Cut 5XG for crimes against Gemkind.

The new episodes were freaking amazing. Especially Sapphire’s and Garnet’s respective songs

From what I’ve seen, Celestia has a less emphatic way to express the fact that she loves all of her subjects, but it’s still there. She would be a good analogue for Rose, especially after the content of today’s two-parter, The Return/Jail Break, suggesting that she was a great strategist and one of the most powerful Gems on earth. She was the leader of the group, she has experience and skill, and everyone definitely looked up to her. I think this image did pretty well in casting her as Rose Quartz.
 
I’m having a hard time telling if Luna is supposed to be Garnet, though. She has the full lips, but she doesn’t really look quite like she’s supposed to be Garnet. Maybe she just needs poofy shoulder things, haha.
 
I also think they’re drawing Cadance as Pearl. What’s up with that? Pearl has Steven in mind, most of the time, but just doesn’t understand him the way Cadance understands Twilight. Then again, I guess Amethyst doesn’t really understand Steven any better, she just gives him bad ideas that are really fun.
 
 
As for the image itself, without any mention of the style emulation, I really like the way they incorporated the features of each pony into the anthro design, from the hoof caps to the cutie mark, every part of it is really well-done.

Idk, Amethyst isn’t as delicate. Garnet as Luna makes a lot of sense.  
But i still feel like this:  
Amethyst: Celestia, but not really. But seeing how the fandom manipulates her character, i say it’s possible.  
Garnet: Luna  
Pearl: Twilight  
Rose: Cadence (Love!!)  
Skyla: Steven  
But then again, i guess your opinion makes more sense.

I’d say Cadence would be playful enough as Amethyst. Amethyst is like an older sister to Steven while Cadence is Twilight’s sister-in-law.
 
Luna as Garnet makes a lot of sense.

However, Skyla would fit into Steven’s role. Just imagine it. Except that nobody would fit Amethyst.

Guess this makes Twilight the Steven of the group.

There should be one like this with Princess Twilight and the rest of the Mane Six.
