So just what was the rest of that sentence? It might be that this is just one of several embarrassing things in the diary, but it must have been something awful. Are there any villains in Equestria with the politics of Nightmare Moon or King Sombra but also the social skills and personal charisma of Snips and Snails?
 
Or could it be she had a crush on a similarly unedifying figure from a fictional work that the Princess of Equestria shouldn’t even have known existed?
 
Or – and I think I prefer this theory – could this have been just one of a long series of embarrassing things in that diary?
 
Remember the Gabby Gums incident, where Twilight Sparkle herself didn’t know about Princess Cakelestia. “Merely” revealing that Celestia has a crush on her sister could be an incredible embarrassment if it’s combined with the revelations that she comfort-eats vast quantities of cake, pranks her palace staff, has one-night stands with chaos gods she meets on online-dating websites, falls asleep in diplomatic summits, snores, has really bad breath, and is a hopeless slob.

I agree, I dont think it would hurt her image having a crush for a relatively powerful ruler from another dimension.  
In fact i cant think of much people that would fit the requisites for it to be embarrassing or outrageous enough to damage her image, I can only think of a monster or villain like the hydra or Chrysalis, etc. and well, her sister.

I vote for the crush being embarrassing – Mirror Sombra was just odd.
