I’m skeptical. Chantal Strand’s comments would indicate that there’s no such mandate or that if there was, it’s no longer being adhered to.

I meant after Luna showed up and showed Apple Bloom around the Corridor of Dream Doors, where she saw the dreams of Sweetie & Scoots. That would be when you’d see any possible uneasiness from DT & SS with their cutie marks, which they express by bullying.
 
Of course, this is assuming that this “DT & SS can never be anything else other than bullies” mandate doesn’t exist.

It’s weird - I don’t really care for Babs Seed (or at the very least I couldn’t stand her in One Bad Apple) and I’m a Silver Spooner, but this comic amuses me.

To be fair, they weren’t the genuine articles, but rather nightmarish copies created by Apple Bloom’s subconscious. If there is more to Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon than meets the eye, Apple Bloom sure as hay isn’t going to know it.

Where’d you hear this? This can’t be true (or is at best a half-truth), since Chantal Strand herself hinted that DT would get something in the way of character development. If it’s true - on the other hand - I might as well quit the fandom right now.

It has been explicitly mandated at the source that DT & SS are to receive absolutely no character development whatsoever. I’m not making that up, either.

I was sort of hoping to see some sort of deep seated anxiousness from Diamond Tiara & Silver Spoon during the episode. Like (one of) the reason(s) they’re such terrible people is because deep down they worry that their cutie marks don’t really mean anything other than “I’m rich. I’m not a jeweler or silver crafter. Just rich, and… that’s it”.
 
Instead, we got Scoots not wanting to be a baker and Sweetie not wanting to be a janitor. Which is fine, but considering the episode is about self-percieved cutie mark dissociative disorder, I was hoping that they could at least try to at least add a bit more to DT & SS’s characters.
 
I mean, for all we know, Babs ain’t coming back which is why she only did this over a letter. At least do something for what people call the two worst ponies. Then at least you still get a bit of a family aesop.
