Context, Twilight and her friends were sent with a small group of Canterlot Guards to stop a squad of human soldiers. Well Celestia didn’t tell the group the full reason why they were sent there. It’s not to stop the humans, but to see why each peacetalk between the humans and ponies weren’t working.
Celestia used her student and friends and her guards as cannon fodder. Don’t think the sun princess has long to rule over Equestria
