Upload question

I recently went to upload an image of mine, only to find that, to my surprise, someone had already uploaded it. The reason I didn’t know this is because I tag  
Artist:amber flicker and they tagged Artist:amberflicker
 
So I’d like to know if there’s a way to watch a tag and also get notified when a similar artist tag pops up.

If there’s a significant amount of both, then you can ask for an alias.

Yes, you can add whatever tag to your watch list, and even get a RSS feed out of your watched list (open your watched image list and look at the bottom of the page).
 
But watching tags with similar name? Not possible at the moment, sorry.

Artists can get an alias even for a few pics. Hell, I’ve aliased artist things that didn’t even have a tag yet here (just stumbling on old redirecting deviantart profiles etc) because otherwise it will just keep happening in the future.
 
Significant amount is more for ‘regular’ tags, although… I also tend to preemptively alias ways of spelling things if I’m there anyway.
