Bombardment is out of the question. The adeptus mechanicus will throw a fit if one of their previous machines are damaged. This forge world is also the same place the warp technology the Psyker encountered earlier is being studied. The Ork invasion started 2 weeks ago.

With the exterminatus over and done with, the Inquisitor figures that Thunderhead is dead and leaves. But she leaves the penal legions and the sisters of battle in the sub-sector to help with th Greenskins.

The Vostroyans couldn’t have come at a better time. The PDF were barely holding their own and it looked like their line was about to break.

The Vostroyans make use of their long range heirloom lasrifles and take the orls out with well placed headshots. Of course, it sometimes took more than one.

More Orks started to come when it looked like the guard were finally putting up a better fight. Orks poured out of buildings and opened fire with their shootas and other Orks started to charge with their axes

However the city was so dense that maneuvering was hard, but it also meant the Vostroyans had excellent firing positions and could set up choke points

The orks are slowly being wittled down, too focused on the PDF to notice the “Red ’onies!” As some of the orks called them.

Things seemed to be going well…until the Nobz showed up. The Nobz led larger masses of Orcs, all with bigger weapons and more armor. It looked like Now was a good time for a tactical retreat

The Vostroyans start to retreat just as more aircraft show up. (Feel like we swapped roles, with you now being the narrator and I the player, lol)

The penal legions are ordered to cover the retreat and manage to hold the line while suffering massive casualties

That’s what the guard does best… Hold the line. The Vostroyan armor lays down a sheet of lead on the orks, firing battle cannons, multi-meltas, heavy flamers, lascannons, and plasma cannons.

They just barely manage to push the Orks back. But they’ll be back, and in greater numbers.
 
The Lord Commissar manages to land with the Cadians. Already the Guard regiments were setting up and preparing for a long drawn out battle with the Orks.
