I’ve read it, and I enjoyed it as well.
@SuperSonic15
Yes.
You guys never read the cadance/shining armor arc? Come on!
What’s that mean? You agreeing with me?
???
Agreed.
A problem with this theory is that a)she only released Twilight, not the whole group; b)she released Twi specifically because she couldn’t do anything, with her horn being blocked by black crystals. And I don’t think that Chrysalis banked on Mane 6 going full Care Bears on us and restoring Twilight’s power with Magic of Believing. So she pretty much done what she said- left Twilight out of cage, but without any chance of winning, just to spite her. No grand plan there.
Unless she suddenly developed Medium Awareness Powers and knows that since it’s a comic, good must triumph in the end.
This seems the most likely. Chrysalis knows that she’s not a front line fighter, she’s not going to take on Sombra alone. Remember, she was shocked when she actually beat Celestia in a 1v1. But she doesn’t want the Umbrum to conquer the world, because then her species will starve.
So what does she do? She throws the biggest wrench into Sombra’s plans that she can, the Mane 6. She knows, from experience, that they have a knack for this sort of thing. But she also knows that if she is there when it goes down, she’ll get caught in the crossfire.
So she is counting on Twilight to clean up the mess, and laughs off into the sunset. Quite in character for her, I would say.

…
Bug out.
Sorry. I held that in for a day but couldn’t take it any longer.)
So I was half-right about Chrysalis defecting. She did release Twilight, but then played it safe and tactically withdrew before the Umbrum were released. I don’t know if that was being a coward, or Chrysalis, having seen the Umbrum previously, decided to flee while she still had the chance so her swarm could find another food source since Equestria was doomed anyway.
Or, Chrysalis knew the Mane Six, Shining Armor, and Cadence would be able to defeat Sombra anyhow, but did not want to hang around for them to turn their wrath on her once Sombra and the Umbrum were defeated and Celestia and Luna were returned to flesh and blood.
And though she could help, frankly there’s just too many ways that could go wrong. Twilight isn’t likely to let her go after it’s all done, and it’s better to use the opportunity to skedaddle. Chasing after her and picking a fight would be insanity when there’s a far greater threat to prepare for.
deep down she knows it’ll be status quo once again and she’s placing enough distance for her and her hive when “once again, the day is saved!”?
Chrysalis herself said that if Umbrum were set free, she wouldn’t have any love left to feed herself or her Changelings. So how exactly is running away going to help her? Is death by starvation so much better than trying to do something about the problem?
Don’t help your bigger enemies.
Just let your #1 source of hatred loose and hope she dies trying to fight or run from it.
No place in Equestria near the Empire perhaps, but even they must have their limits, and Chrysalis was planning to cross an ocean.
Not exactly wrong. Previously they only sat in Crystal Empire and didn’t leave the territory because of the princesses. Now with princesses gone, they might go rampant so no place is really safe from their presence.
Wrong logic, they were free earlier and it wasn’t equal to nuclear war, more like evil tyrant/dictatorship
Tbh it seems that trying to escape Umbrum is like escaping nuclear war. You could hide but you’ll still be screwed over by it. Maybe it would be better to not let it happen? That’s like common sense.
Yeah, if she was a fucking genius instead she would choose certain death over living another day, what an idiot amiright?
I like to think of it as tangy.
Amuse, then my job here is done. :3
Maybe she understand umbrum is more like stationary danger than world wide
Its kind way to salty, but it amuse me for sure.
