||The problem with that is how it took almost the entirety of the episode to reach that point. Hell, even the end was rather cringy, seeming less like a stage show where Trixie intends on performing a “stunt”, and more like Trixie legitimately trying to kill herself in a state of grief; the whole episode wasn’t bad, not at all, and the exchanges with Trixie and Starlight were legitimately interesting, with Twilight seeming like a really ugly third wheel for 90% of the episode… But by the very end? Sure, it all evened out…
… didn’t get that bad taste out of my mouth… probably not out of the Manticore’s mouth, either.||

Eh, to each his own. I thought it was paced perfectly.

The thing about Trixie never having love or having a friend, is that she sees herself as superior to all, and travels so often that she never stays anywhere so no pony ever gets to really talk with her. Now this wouldn’t be a bad thing, if we had a backstory that explained it. Without a backstory, it comes across as messy writing for her character. I hope we get another episode with her sometime this season, but it will likely be next season… a shame, since seeing her truly change is something we don’t get nearly enough of; Trixie’s been one of the few characters who’s been the most considerably grounded to reality with her attitude; really hard to break her habits, which I like, as well as relate-able actions, like saying that her saying she “won” was just her getting caught up in the moment; her ego is all she has, and for a moment, that one thing that ate away at it, was gone; she “won” over Twilight with Starlight’s friendship, and saying something dumb when you get something you never got and always wanted? That’s relate-able… if only she didn’t get snarky so often in the episode; her entire reveal in the castle was cringy.

||Yeah, but in the episode, despite Trixie seeing herself as superior, she is constantly trying to improve herself. She talks about trying to redeem herself, which is why she is putting on that apology tour. As for the reveal in the castle, that was Trixie being Trixie. Even though she was trying to make friends, it didn’t occur to her what she was saying until after Starlight started crying. Also, after she nearly hurt Starlight by what she said, Trixie never again was snarky in the whole episode. She was only snarky in the episode before she hurted Starlight. ||

||I’d say it’s one of the best episodes for Trixie. Still one of my favs despite the flaws or a bit of rushed parts but it’s heartwarming to see this relationship or development she’s having. I’m already satisfied with this. ||

I won’t lie; after this comments section, I actually watched the episode for the first time (first episode I’ve seen of the new season), and I couldn’t help but feel like Trixie was written considerably poorly. I can’t quite put my finger on it, so I’ll go with my unsure-as-hell gut, and say that… err… lemme spoiler-block it.
It was a matter of consistency with her personality. The episode had pretty heartfelt moments between Trixie and Starlight, only to break into Trixie’s old personality and ruin what seemed like a genuine desire to improve. I understand that this was meant to lead to her screwing up and redeeming herself by the end of the episode, but with her rubber banding personality going back and forth, it almost felt she had a writer from the end of her second episode, and a writer from the beginning of her second episode, and had them alternate between being a bitter rival, and actually being interested in the concept of having a friend.

||I think the big flaw I would have to say about the episode is inconsistency. I’m surprised Twilight was sort of hostile to Trixie even though she forgave Trixie in Magic Duel. I know Twilight might still have a grudge somewhere but between 2 ponies with one that used to tyrannize a village and the other that tried to change history, it’s like when having jerk traits is more evil than doing evil. Again, it’s inconsistent.
I still like the episode but I won’t say it’s the best of the season. The strongest part was indeed the relationship between Starlight and Trixie and it would have been better if Twilight wasn’t antagonistic to Trixie. I prefer to have Starlight and Twilight discuss about the past experiences with Trixie rather than Twilight trying to prevent their friendship, which is contradicting IMO. ||

I thought the episode, in my opinion, was written perfectly. You had Starlight, who is trying to find friends, befriend Trixie, whose motives are rather ambiguous. Now, with Twilight, she has reasons to be concerned. Trixie has done some crazy stuff before, after all. Plus, it is in character for Twilight to be worried about something to the point she overreacts. That is what happened in episodes like Lesson Zero and It’s About Time. As for Trixie, holy cow. I absolutely adore what they did with Trixie in the episode. Here’s a character who’s very antagonistic and arrogant and, in addition, can be very mean. However, in this episode, it was proven that the reason she became friends with Starlight was not because she wanted to get even with Twilight, but because of one reason and one reason only: because she finally found someone to love her. Trixie, for her whole life, has never had a friend before. Never in her whole life. When she finally found out that Starlight forgave her, that smile Trixie gave was like if a whole lot of weight had been lifted off of her chest. And you know why? Because she’s lonely. She was really, really scared she was going to lose Starlight, the first friend that she had ever made. I know I’m Rambling, but that’s the reason I enjoyed the episode, and why I found it to be one of, if not the, best episodes of mlp.

Miller told a guy over twitter that No Second Prances wasn’t meant to be the last episode she was in. I don’t remember the exact words, something along the lines of her story not being over.
Yukimazan

@ShimmeringStallion
We aren’t sure whether the writers will have plans for her or not (though I think one did imply it’s not the end), I’m satisfied with how No Second Prances went even though it had it’s flaws. 3 episodes for a character arc.
ShimmeringStallion

@Dr. Rabbit
She was a classic fan favorite, but her sole point of redemption was overshadowed by an oblivious-to-the-truth personality quirk and boasting through humility; it wasn’t nearly the right way to go out… she needs to truly have that “moment”; we’ll know it when we see it.
ShimmeringStallion

Hm… You know, Trixie’s been through some really messed up stuff in the show, all things considered… I mean, for a tertiary character (neither background, nor common enough to be a Secondary), she has a heck of a story built in with minimal positives.
