Fair enough, although I wasn’t just talking about Starlight, I’m talking about Microchips as well.
But it’s a bikini top like that really old-fashioned? It looks like a combination of old and new.
@Liggliluff
I still wonder if those old-fashioned swimsuits are still made nowadays.
I’m surprised there’s people who wears that. Don’t get me wrong, it’s just that, well, when was the last time those swimsuits were the rule? 50? 60 years maybe? My headcanon is that microchips is pretty old-fashioned even if he’s an expert in technology.
I’m not sure where you got that info… The character tag is Starlight. Starshine is a G1 pony…
But Starshine is a G1 pony.
Lipsticks and foreheads don’t appeal to me.
Her tag is still “starlight”…

It’s not like those vintage 1950s swimsuits look anything bad.
If anything, those swimsuits during that time were the precursors to modern ones we are familiar with. It’s when things started getting sexy.
And Microchips’ suit is so funny, too. He probably wore that to keep his nerd paleness contained.
I have to admit fashion ignorance, but I DO know these characters will wear whatever Hasbro finds will move dolls, even if not the latest nor even current. If they find green and orange polkadot clothes sell toys, you better believe the line-up will switch to it.
I’m guessing his anachronistic suit was chosen because the animators knew he had no chance as an actual doll and they wanted to have some fun by being weird.
We’ve seen they use smart phones, and in this specific short Rainbow Dash finds an older model cell phone and openly asks what it is. They have to be within the last ten years, and probably meant to be ambiguously current.
ok but this is 2018, in another short they show sunset in a normal bikini so why show this? do they still make swimsuits like that today?
