Not a bad theory, except AJ has been seen to be light enough to ride on a balloon but also heavy enough to anchor it. The earth ponies dark matter theory has a lot of supporting evidence to it unrelated to pegasi interaction.
As for the horns, I’ve always suspected the interaction isn’t with the horn so much as a unicorns magic field around said horn. When they are using it offensively, they wouldn’t have a charge around it, and it would be simple bone, as you say.

Silly yes, though not that silly; but this idea that there are nerve endings in a unicorn’s horn is just ignorant of science. Ponies whack them into things all the time throughout the entire show and don’t flinch.
By the way, I don’t think that AJ and RD’s see-saw moment is evidence for earth ponies being made of dark matter. Rather, I believe it supports the idea that pegasi have weight diminuting magic. After all, the surface area of a pegasus wing is only enough to lift the pegasus if he weighs less than the average pony.
