I wrote the story this is based on, I’m glad to see that it turned out so well, and I’m glad that other people are enjoying this. That being said, they are not related, and Twilight barely treats him like family in the show.
 
He’s a coworker/assistant at best. My argument for this is a comparison on how she treats Shining Armor and Cadence, Brother and sister-in-law respectably.
