I’d say preteen boys often get infatuated with older women. So many guys have stories about young adult babysitters they were attracted to when they were kids.

Mm. I tend to think it’s because Sparity is more or less canon.  
But I think it’s less common for a kid that age to have a real crush on a woman so much older than him. It’s easier for a girl to have a crush on a fashionable young man.
