I wonder if Starlight has some kind of connection to Twilight? Both look quite similar (sans a few things) Starlight’s Cutie mark is slightly similar to Twilight’s and both promote friendship (Though Twilight doesn’t do so in Starlight’s insane ways)

This does raise the question of how useful a cutie mark removal spell is on something that doesn’t have one. I mean, could Sweetie Bell do a diving save in front of Rarity and just no sell the thing?

Discord does have a cutie mark when he is in his pony form, it’s a twister!
 

And then Starlight shows Spike that he isn’t equal friends with the mane six and convinces Spike to join her equalizing cause of his own free will. Hell, with just his support, she could equalize the whole Crystal Empire pretty easily.

I always thought the reason Tirek didn’t steal Spike’s magic is the fact that Tirek’s magic and Spike’s dragon magic were too similar: they both steal to make themselves bigger and stronger.

And Tirek’s powers weren’t based on the CM, the disappearing Cutie Mark was just a side effect. Without a Cutie Mark to effect, it’s doubtful Discord could be effected by Glimmer at all

Nope, Tirek just locked him up. Spike still had the color in his eyes when Tirek’s Power Drain turned everyone else’s eyes grey. Stands to reason he didn’t get drained, either through negligence on Tirek’s part (Until Discord, he only ever mentioned Pony Magic, so maybe that’s all he felt was worth a damn) or maybe Tirek’s ability wasn’t meant to be used on non-pony’s (Being a Draon-equus, Discord would be at least part pony and still count)

Spike can’t even beat his meat.

Tirek took away all of his powers, so maybe Starlight can do the same to him.

Let’s just stick to Discord until they figure out Spike’s character and his purpose to the story
