This is an image about the EqG being Dutch. Why are you asking about Australia?
Here’s what you do: type in “australia” in the search bar above and have at it.
The so-called Dutch Mountains.
They have to be real. The Nits once made a song about them. The Nits are from the Netherlands, so they ought to know.
I bet they get a few giggles for showing up in folk costume, but the Netherlands folk costume is pretty neat
There was a family named Fukking down the street where I used to live.
There are seriously people called Poepjes…? That’s worse than Sukkel.
Anyway, the picture… I think Rarity looks the cutest here, her braid is very pretty.
No. It’s almost…. non-existent. I think I’m only 1/16 Dutch.
Think twice or more next time you read someone’s comment. :P
So… you’re saying Flash Sentry is a well-rounded, developed character?
As for me, I’m Indonesian, and I have as much Dutch blood as Flash Sentry has characterization. *_*
Rustig aan, I’m Dutch too.
I am saying that in general, those are the types of humor Dutch people appreciate. You may not personally be into dry humor, but you are in the minority. When it comes to comedy in Dutch entertainment, dry humor is the staple and you know this to be true.
As for names, it should be a given that not everybody came up with a stupid one. People did think that surnames were a temporary thing that would disappear as soon as the French were defeated. My maiden name was Van Weert. That’s about as simple and straightforward as they come.
I don’t know how many places you’ve been, I’ve been to 17 different countries and three states in the U.S. and Dutch humor is unique. In fact, many Dutch people abroad are misunderstood due to their sarcasm at times. But what do I know?
So it doesn’t apply to you. There are English people who don’t like English humor and there are many Americans who find American humor too corny.
As a Dutch person myself, I’m telling you that you are wrong about the humor. Everyone has different things they enjoy, that doesn’t mean everyone else likes the same thing. In fact, dry humor and anti-authority behavior are things I just can’t stand.
I myself have Zonneveld (Sunfield) as a last name, not much of a joke, now is it?
Some Dutch people had a strange sense of humor, not all of them.
When last names got introduced to the Dutch people by Napoleon’s regime, the Dutch didn’t think the system would last. They’d come up with all kinds of crazy names, such as De Koning (the king), De Keizer (the emperor), Naaktgeboren (born naked) and Poepjes (little poops).
The Dutch have a strange sense of humor. They love dry humor, sarcasm and slapstick, but they mostly enjoy trolling the authorities.
@QueenCold
My last name is “vandenberg” which means “from the mountain.” I was informed this was a joke created many years ago, as a way to screw with tax collectors.
Dutch people, being sarcastic? XD
Well, they’re not wearing their usual hooker boots, so something’s gotta give.
Dutch BP reporting here. And like@QueenCold says:
No mountains here and neither does anyone wear these traditional clothing anymore. Maybe a tiny minority of old people in less populated areas or at traditional markets to entertain the tourists. Still a pretty cute drawing though, but not accurate.
@Limabona
Kek
So…. is my whole life a lie?
Eyyyy!
I guess I still count.
This image is truly amazing. I like how they went out of their way to make the book orange - it’s the national color after all - yet the background is littered with mountains. It’s called the Netherlands for a reason.
