IMHO, 2013 was the 2nd to last year of railfanning being great. In 2015, the Class Is here in the US started adopting “Precision Scheduled Railroading”, and many older and more interesting locomotives were shoved into storage or were retired, sold off, and/or scrapped, such as the B32-8s/B40-8s/C40-8s from NS and CSX. Several other interesting operations had also been shut down or drastically changed by 2015 as well, such as the G&W having retired all of the Georgia Central’s ex-Southern Railway “high-hood” U23Bs, and then proceeding to scrap all but one of them.
