That’s fucking hyperbole and you know it. “Self-termination” my ass! Things will shift and we will convert to other forms of energy production. Oil will become used less and less especially when fusion becomes feasible. I despise fearmongering like what you are pushing. AOC said that we would perish in 12 years because of climate change. We have clear data on the health ramifications of pollution and yet we do very little to change it.
 
It is an indictment of human nature. If not the climate, the arms races we engage in will kill us. Or our gleeful ignoring of the 3 most recent antibiotic resistant bacteria, or the infinitely more terrifying unbeatable MRSA infection that may be the worst thing to ever exist in the history of mankind.
 
We march toward death not from a singular source, but from a thousand cuts.
 
“Never learns” is the mantra our species goes by. No matter what the data says people just keep their heads in the sand. We never try and fix things until they are too broken to fix.

Fun fact. DARPA helped develop a nearly 100% effective cure for Ebola in record time when it became a threat to the US. So we have a cure, but it is simply not a priority for the US Government to use it in other countries.
