Well Luigi has already been in his own game before this one.
 
Looks a Luigi’s Mansion 2 and there is Mario and Luigi series
 
But I don’t mind missing Luigi in this game.

But still, I’m hoping there will be more content. It just feels like Mario Maker has more hidden potential.

Yeah I know what you mean. No Slopes, No enemies (from SMW and SMB3 that everyone loves from previous games like The Angry Sun, Ninji, Chargin’ Chucks, and so much more.), No Desert theme, No Checkpoints.
 
There is so much missing from this game.

I haven’t even thought about sliding slopes. That would of been nice to have.
 
Although, I guess I can understand why exclusive enemies from those games didn’t make the cut. Probably not very common in recent Mario games and they haven’t made any appearances in a platform since their first debate.

Well, I was thinking more on 2D platform rather than 3D and other gaming genres. The only common enemy I can think of that didn’t make it into the game is Pokey, which is kinda strange. Thinking about it seems like the devs jossed away a perfect candidate.

I was just talking about the lack of checkpoints with my friends just now! I freaking hate that!  
Now I am aware that many Mario games in the past did make some levels with no checkpoints BUT they were done for the very last special levels. Everyone playing Mario Maker seems to assume that the levels they need to create need to be as ruthless and unforgiving as those levels. No power-ups, no checkpoints, just you. While I’m all up for a challenge, I personally don’t find it fair to make the player just suffer all the way through, that’s not enjoying a game. This is why I think power-ups should be given after clearing difficult parts to give the players some kind of relief.
 
Well the secret weird mushroom that makes Mario all skinny does give him Luigi’s gameplay and while the appearance is funny, I find it much more fitting if I were playing AS Luigi with Luigi’s gameplay. This is why I think that EVERY Mystery Mushroom appearance should have their own unique attacks and gameplay which can make creating levels much more interesting.

I think Nintendo is aware of the missing elements from SMB3 and SMW that aren’t in Mario Maker and are probably gonna release them as DLC maybe. The content that comes with the game was made so we can get basic ideas for creating levels. I can see the remaining elements from SMB3 and SMW being distributed as content for later updates.  
One game element that I think would make for interesting DLC would be using the Koopalings. Yes, we have Bowser and Bowser Jr but it would be nice to expand the roster of boss characters to use in levels.

I liked the Weird Mushroom. :) Its funny how Mario looks…weird, or creepy. I wonder if any artist made any uncanny valley artwork with Mario having such awkward physic.  
I think that EVERY Mystery Mushroom appearance should have their own unique attacks and gameplay which can make creating levels much more interesting.
 
Not against the idea, but the problem is that you can only do so much with 8-bit style graphics and adding special abilities to every amiibo will take away the core value of a Mario mechanic gameplay. They could have at least let you combined amiibos with Fire Flower to use fireballs, which would be nice.
 
Also, I just realized the possible reason why Pokey isn’t in the game due to the “Stack” mechanic already capable for every enemey to create over dozens of hazardous encounters, thus making Pokey unnecessary.

I don’t own the game, and I’m not sure if this was brought up, but does anyone know of the one man who made it past Ross’ Yoshi level without killing a single one of them? XD

Is the level Ross created called “You Are A Monster”? Beacuse that’s the only level I know a few weeks ago that involved dozens of Yoshis getting dumped in lava.

That level was annoying. I kept dieing on the Bowser Jr section with the conveyor belt. It’s pretty hard. Since I now know that’s Ross I’m going to add him as a Follow on Course World whenever I get the chance.
