It’s true, current head of Laika, Travis Knight, is the son of rich as fuck Phil Knight (Co-founder of Nike).
During the 90s Travis wanted to become a rapper and with the help of The Bomb Squad productions (and daddy’s dough) he got his one and only album Get Off Mine under the rapper name Chilly Tee. Travis liked the creation involved, but learned that the direct spotlight wasn’t for him so he went into animation. After Phil scoped up a money-troubled Laika, Travis joined as an intern there until he eventually rose in power from intern to lead animator to chairman to president and CEO.
