General Anime Thread

Alright, possibly harsh opinion time:

||I can’t connect with this show, like at all. The entire discussion I had about how I’m not totally into lewdness like most of you guys still stands, really. It goes deeper though, down to the characters as they are.

I understand that it’s the point, but Miia’s strong desire to get Kimihito to bang her is pretty annoying, and it doesn’t help that she seems to have little regard for his feelings. I know it’s obvious that she’s pretty lacking in the self-control department, but for being so madly in love with a guy, she really doesn’t know when to slow down. It’s been how long since they even first met? I just find her a bit hard to fathom. Doesn’t help that Kimihito doesn’t really seem to establish any ground rules, he’s basically a pushover in that aspect (and not in a way I find terribly endearing).

I’ll give credit where it’s due, the main concept of creatures living among humans is intriguing. The way it’s handled though, while interesting, does end up being a double-edged sword. I’m not a fan of the whole trope of “discriminatory behavior against any sentient being that isn’t human” in any show, really. If there really is a law passed that makes it so that the monsters are on equal terms with humans, why are public displays of discrimination still tolerated, no less in front of government officials? I don’t know how deeply they explore this topic, but that’s gotta be against that law in some way.

In any case, I’m sure the other monsters that show up later have their own unique personalities (and their own means of expressing their kinkiness as well), but I personally feel they picked a bad foot to start off on with Miia as the first monster girl we meet. I won’t completely say that this sucks, it really doesn’t. It just very clearly wasn’t meant for a guy like me. And if it does stay largely static in its formula as you guys seem to be implying, then I’m not sure I’d like to continue this series. It’s sending me a bunch of mixed messages in ways I didn’t even expect to be thinking about. Maybe I’m taking this way too seriously, but it’s honestly how I feel.||

Now for K-On, from what I understand there’s K-On! and K-On!! and those are S1 and S2.

Then there’s Ura-On! and Ura-On!!, which are little random shorts?

And then there’s an OVA for each season, and a movie?

Is that all correct? And if so, what order should I plan on watching all of this in?
