A shotgun type with be kind of cool, I just hope it will not be to powerful.  
Maybe a range only a little over the brush swipe or roller slam and only about two shots for a full ink tank.

There was an auto-shotty in Planetside 2 that would make a good ink-gun. It was the Piston, an NC gun. Hit like a truck, shot in a burst of 3, but had really low ammo. Something like that, that shoots in quick bursts but has super limited ammo and has a narrow spread.

I wonder if Nintendo would do those temporary updates during certain holidays or event.
 
Like when Valentines Day, inklings will explode in hearts and stuff.

If you see the promo for the event, or the evnen more a video by GameXplain, it looks they will be in Inkopolis Plaza and it seems to show them singing the final boss song on top of some stages set up.
