I’m at a training at work about military lingo, and all the tables are separated by branch.

I dunno about that. We haven’t been able to eradicate diseases like bubonic plague and ebola, and if any of those diseases mutate to where a) they are as transmissible as chicken pox, and b) all available medicines, vaccines and antibiotics are ineffective against them, the Black Death (which Europe still hasn’t socially recovered from) will look like child’s play.

What reasons do you have to think any of those will happen in the near future? And science has come quite a long way from the Black Death, and is still marching forward. Actions speak louder than belly aching.

The time between “OH MY GOD CORONAVIRUS WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE” and “we got vaccines, we got treatments, if you die now it’s on you” was extraordinarily fast by historical standards. Even HIV got a good couple decades of being scary as hell. We might get more pandemics in the future (because… climate change? somehow?), but they’ll be manageable.

That’s moreso bad response to a pandemic (in large part due to the USA’s leader at the time) and a misinformed public. By your logic, we all should be dead by now due to covid 19.
