Quick question: if a “screenplay” is criticized, what does that mean? (explain like I’m 5 btw)

A screenplay is a form of a movie script but instead of just having dialogue and basic scene setting it includes things like actions, character postions, movements, timing and scene length, and the like.

It’s basically the technical manual for a movie. And a poorly written/constructed screenplay will often lead to a bad movie.
