Tbf, pre-puberty is the best time you’re supposed to teach them sexual education.

By the time they’re hitting or into puberty they’re already dealing with the hormones and urges, and possibly have already engaged in sexual activities. Better to teach them about safe sex before they become active rather than after they’ve already started.

And don’t try and tell me about that abstinence only bullshit, it does not work. States with AO education have higher teen pregnancy and STD levels, you won’t get far telling horny teens to not fuck. They’re little balls or hormonal rage and you’re not going to prevent that.

Theaters are massive, much larger than most churches around here, so I have to assume you are deliberately manipulating your examples to create outrage over the idea that the church is being unjustly punished. The fact of the matter is that churches often use pews, not seats, encouraging closer contact, and are often relatively filled up, unlike theaters which were fairly empty a lot during the pandemic. It is quite reasonable to place a restriction on somewhere people are more bunched up and where more people are expected to go to even if they were told not to.

Ah here we go, we’ve got people in clothing that covers them far better than most female characters in a “family-friendly” movie, dancing to pop songs, all the colors aren’t your typical boring gray, and there’s even a sign from some ice cream company in the background to be misunderstood, time to equate the entire thing to a strip club (it’s at worst a bar, and I’m pretty sure the kids weren’t getting drunk) and then blame it on the gays.
I’ve been told there was supposedly a strip-tease by one of the performers, which if true, was inappropriate specifically on the dancer’s part, but it’s amazing how people always completely just go with a gut instinct that’s nothing but rage the moment they see a child involved, even for something comparable to moments in MLP G1. US politics as normal.

A single instance not a universal make, and the evidence is strongly against that being the norm.

Teach ten teens how to have safe sex and the worst that happens is that the few who want to remain abstinent learn something for the future. Teach ten teens that the only thing to do is not have sex, and the worst thing that can happen is that several of them will end up pregnant or infected with at STI.

Teaching people how to be safe will not make them sluts and I swear to the gods if anyone suggests that they’re a moron.

Possible and viable are different, like a majority of people lose their virginity by the time they can drive a car and if you don’t teach them safety a number of that will result in trauma pregnancy and disease, it far less traumatic to explain safe sex and give a kid condoms then to coach them through child birth and care before they are in highschool

Jesus, I’m not trying to trick you or manipulate you. I’m giving you an example off of the top of my head. The point is during coronavirus many states deemed some things ok to shut down, some not ok, and it wasn’t always logical when compared side by side. So you could have one building with the same capacity as another but because the uses are different one could be more limited. The Government would need a good reason to treat a church/temple/mosque differently.

Well the court ruled wrong. There is no requirement in the constitution that buildings for worship be treated better than businesses (all it really says is the gov’t can’t go out of its way to try to target a religion, which isn’t what was done here as 25% capacity is plenty to worship), but recently, American courts have been consistently using a new idea of “most favored nation” applied to religious tests, whereby any allowance given to something for any reason has to be given to religious institutions too, even if they don’t meet the reasoning.

The problem, as I read it, is that they tried to set special rules for houses of worship, which you generally can’t do. Secular businesses were either closed entirely or open at 50%. If Cuomo had picked one or the other for churches, he might have gotten away with it. Instead he tried to split the difference and got burned.

(Mind you, this wasn’t the first time he played fast and loose with the First Amendment. Executive Order 202.32 disallowed non-essential gatherings except for religious services, which could have invited a lawsuit from the other direction if it hadn’t been superseded the next day by EO 202.33.)

They can pass general laws that also happen to include religious services, but if they decide to pass specific laws targeting them they need to have a very good reason. This isn’t a case of them asking to be treated better then businesses, but them asking to be treated equally.
