I think it’s mostly how those worlds had been expanded already. Little mermaid had a tv series, Aladdin also had one, beauty and beast had it’s straight to DVD sequels, Cinderella too.
 
Tangled and Frozen were waaaaaay too recent for the head honchos in trusting anyone to willingly explore them since there’s plenty of material still unexplored and obviously why the hell do I Disney want another studio to profit from stuff I can get first?

Yeah but KH3 was already in development since 2013-2014 with the movie coming out in 2010
 
And the series didn’t happened until 2017, 2 years before release which I don’t think is enough time to change what they had already done without having to delay the game

It just dawn on me…
 
KH3 is a year old already…
 
Frozen is 5. Tangled is 10…

I don’t know, half the time it seems all FF have a plot that was woven to see if it would fix itself as it went along (FF XIV), others that he planned a bunch of stuff but had to cut it for human limitations and lovecraftian induced madness (from what I’ve heard every KH). Others I just think he tries for way too grand stories and gets way too wrapped in the middle that he forgets where the beginning was or how to end it (everything from FF VII ip to XV)
 
The one time it all seems to have a beginning middle and end was in FF 1 to 6

See, now you’re doing another incorrect statement: assuming he’s that heavily involved in the FF franchise. He wasn’t even part of it until V, and in V and VI he was just a battle programmer. And while he helped draft the original story for VII and was somewhat involved with VIII and IX’s story, he had no involvement in X or XII apart from character design as far as I know. The XIII games, however, were basically his passion project that got taken from him (ESPECIALLY Versus XIII/XV).

It was never planned to be a trillogy, the only games that where made where one based of the LOTR movies, and one based ot the first two Hobbit movies.  
The game was supposed to have 3rd movie be a level pack DLC, but they TT couldn’t find a way to implant it right, so the idea was scrapped.
 
They never had a season pass for the game either, since the only DLC’s that the game had where the pre-order characters, so they didn’t advertise a season pass for the game, which is why no one got a refund, becuase it neverexisted in the first place.
 
As for it flopping, i don’t think it was considered to be a flop since it still sold pretty well and the reviews where mostly positive.

I played the XIII trilogy. I fail to see how this is a bad thing.
 
I’ve seen bits and pieces of XV and Type 0. I do see how this is a good thing.

Jeez, it’s been 13 years since Phoenix Wright: Justice for All was released.

Wasn’t Versus XIII/XV the only part of XIII Nomura was majorly a part of? I know he did the character designs but that’s it. If XIII was anyone’s passion project, it was Motomu Toriyama’s. I mean he outright waifus Lightning
