Explanation of update to Rule #0 for consistency and clarity especially in regards to racism

The rules are changing. Don’t you think the user base should be informed?

The use of the word “Mouthpiece” in the rules is broad and doesn’t sit with my right, but in a way I can’t really describe.

They did not announce changes in the past(as far as i remember) but it was one of the problems in this drama and there were some comments by staff members that said that they will be working on transparency so we should expect them to do something as basic as announcement for transparency reasons.

But you inform them so they can check the updated rules. Otherwise you cannot expect people to make sure their stuff complies because they won’t know that anything’s different.

As far as I’m concerned, the people in the community are also my friends and the fact that everyone is still fighting over this enough to try and destroy everything that’s been built has been a bigger backstab than anything any of the admins could have done.
 
I just want everyone to go back to posting ponies at this point. Is that so hard to ask for?

It would probably be a mess and reignite the whole thing from the start again. It’s really the last thing we need at this point.

I dont think many would panic most would ignore it and those that post art on this site/artists would probably read the updated rules and then go about their day or come here to ask staff about some clarifications to those which would be a good thing overall.

Please have in mind that everything was clarified here and here, there was a disproportional outcry to it considering the very rare and specific usage of it.
 
Some good came from all this, reforms usually only happens when things gets pretty ugly. There’s been a refinement on the rules and on how the staff structure works with greater participation from everyone. This is noticeable on how this final statement, endorsed by TSP, could be finally made, from here on out it’s just a matter to go back to normality.
 
Opinions among staff are heard more, rules are more clear, every action is discussed between the team and no decision is being made by a single head, followed by how we still offer full appeal procedure to anyone who’d like to question a deletion of theirs through IRC/Discord;
 
I’d say we’re all on the right track then again dust always takes it’s time to settle down, there’s still plenty of pony to rejoice.

Generic announcement like that(or any at all) would be good thing but i still think that “the site rules have been updated” would be a better one

After reading through this entire thread, I am cautiously optimistic about this rule change. As a general rule, I am very much against censorship of any kind and enjoy my freedom immensely. With that said, however, I aknowledge that with increased freedom comes a need for increased responsibility…..a trait a small minority of people seem to lack. Because of this, I can understand Derpibooru’s need to further clarify their rules in order to combat this lack of self cnotrol and restraint on other people’s behalf, especially given recent current events.
 
Despite this, I have to throw my hat in the ring and urge the staff and moderators to be careful when reviewing artwwork as just like person, a piece is innocent until proven definitively guilty and not before. Alongside that, when viewing a piece, the questions asked should not be whether something can be offensive but whether it actually is.
 
Furthermore, on the topic of ACAB, I have to admit I’m more than a little leary of your response to it. Whilst you could argue that it just barely toes the line of what is acceptable, and given recent(and past) events, many peple have a right to be angry, none of this changes the fact that it is, decidely, a hate group that in some cases calls for direct violence against cops. This clearly isn’t right, and I have ask if this is something that is going to be allowed to skate under the radar here on Derpibooru?
 
Irregardless, the glass is half full, and I know the staff behind Derpibooru are doing their best to keep this site as wonderfully inclusive and friendly as it’s always been. Keep doing what you’re doing.

The internall procedure reforms are good (if they will work) and deletion appeal is a good practice but i would like to know what actions(if any) will be implemented(or are considered) to improve transparency of staff actions(in general) and mechanics of running the site to all users?

If the mods and admins can enforce these rules fairly, then I think it could work. It’ll take a while until trust can be regained, but this is a good start, in my opinion, as long as there are no biases in the future.

I Hope that with this we can finally leave all of this behind and things go back to normal.
 
Also the amount of presure a lot of people from both sides put on the staff was unfair. They are human and, as far as I know,they do this for free.
 
So for me thanks to all the staff, both active and retired, for keeping the site up and runing

Also one more thing:  
There are some rule 0 explanations in FAQ but i dont see link to them( maybe i am blind) on rule page. And i think that there should be link or at least information there(on rules page) that such explanations exist.

No, I want to know why they stated “endorsed by TSP” without any public facing confirmation from TSP. Y’know, that guy that is more willing to respond to the aggressors on twitter than anyone using the booru.
