I hate Fall of Equestria. Like, actively hate it. It makes me angry. I find it vile, hateful, ugly, and I think any decent person would detest it. Even the font associated with it upsets me, if only a little. A part of me hopes that it gets banned as a result of the drama. Indeed, the majority of the things I wish I could unsee, or unread, or just forget came from this fandom.
 
And yet…
 
I tagged. I filtered. I didn’t complain. I defended people’s right to like and post content I find abhorrent, like the good little believer in free expression that I am. I coexisted with things that offend me. Thousands of users did this for years.
 
Then one fucking article goes up, and a bunch of useful idiots decide they don’t like the site’s image. They get to go on this moral crusade backed by artists, and anyone who disagrees or wants their voice heard about things they’re sick of putting up with is just a nazi.

I think it’s because the non-judgemental ones are busy with better things to do than badmouth others, or consider their opinions not significant enough to speak them unprompted.  
And because open-minded people aren’t insecure, they don’t need to constantly reaffirm that they’re in the right by displaying their alignment with something.
 
Like, I could say what I think of dilarus and his ilk, and if I word it properly it won’t get R0’d, but why? I won’t persuade anyone to reconsider their support of him by this (in no small part because such people don’t read Derpi), I don’t care to virtue signal about belonging to any group, and I have better things to do with my time than pay attention to him.

So basically “Love and tolerate” is no more and we now have three separate fandoms instead of one.

This site does not operate independent of the world.
 
And this handling as been a utter joke. They failed to do the easiest thing in the world- ban fucking Nazi content.  
And the Anti-Censorship crowd, are jsut enabling hate speech under their radical BS attitude to Free Speech. YOUR right to free speach ends when it infringes upon anpther’s person’s freedoms & safety.
 
 
There is no reason in the context of MLP to have neutral or pro-Nazi imagery.

Some quotes by other people mischaracterizing the issue, some “you don’t NEED Nazi depictions” like that’s the point, something something banning Nazis is EZ just ignore all the people who voiced their disapproval at such a blanket ban it’s EZ bro just do it, “freedom of expression is radical” like we’re out here trying to push for rule #0’s removal or something, something something infringing on others’ safety when filters already exist, etc.

Using “free speech” as a cop-out is just as intellectually dishonest and just as morally bankrupt. Even if you see derpibooru as something more akin to a public utility, not all speech is protected under the First Amendment anyway.
 
Free speech is a bedrock value in the USA. But it isn’t the only one. Like all values, it must be held in tension with others, such as equality, safety and robust democratic participation. Speech should be protected, all things being equal. But what about speech that’s designed to drive a woman out of her workplace or to bully a teenager into suicide or to drive a democracy toward totalitarianism? Navigating these trade-offs is thorny, as trade-offs among core principles always are. But that doesn’t mean we can avoid navigating them at all.
 
In 1993 and 1994, talk-radio hosts in Rwanda calling for bloodshed helped create the atmosphere that led to genocide. The Clinton administration could have jammed the radio signals and taken those broadcasts off the air, but Pentagon lawyers decided against it, citing free speech.
 
We can protect unpopular speech from government interference while also admitting that unchecked speech can expose us to real risks. And we can take steps to mitigate those risks. And for derpiboour, that means banning Nazi content and other idologies of intolerance.

I’d say at most they’re prob one or two genuine Neo-Nazi’s here objecting to it.  
Pretty much all of them are just radical Freedom of Speech people than pro-Nazi/Neo-Nazi people.
 
And they forget the American attitude to Free Speech is radical.
