Trying to think of another kid’s show where they specifically mentioned slavery and a ruler with the desire for slaves…

Also, the show does present a pretty progressive view of what a princess is. All of the princesses are important heads of a certain field of magic and more importantly, earn their position.
 
Cadance didn’t marry into royalty. Shining Armor did. That is a pretty big deal.

I’ve been hearing about those “supposed” dark implications in the show for 2 days, i never read so much fanatism in months.  
Does ANYONE really believe Chrysalis’s plan was to lock Twilight up with good Cadence so she could kill her out of rage?  
TWILIGHT?KILL?HER BABYSITTER?MY LITTLE PONY?

I think she just put her in there because her though process was likely something along the lines of “NOTHING CAN STOP ME, MWAHAHAHAHA.”
 
Also. Chrysalis needs to take some acting classes.

Never mind. She did it because she thought she wouldn’t lose.

Yeah, I always though she was just short of prison space and had to lock both captives in the same cave by necessity. I mean, did you see any other forgotten caves lying around?
 
Her whole downfall can be attributed to sloppy incarceration methods.
 
She seals up Celestia in a giant cocoon but let’s the others just mill about the room. Even after Cadence and Shining were free, she just sort of let them stand there. “Power of love. pfff, like that’ll work.” And then it did. Idiot.
 
So yeah, not much in the way of a criminal mastermind.

Playing around, she was full of herself and though she was fucking unbeatable so she made dumb decisions because of it.

And by stupidest I mean intelligence wise, not like “she sucks”

Kinda hilarious, or sad, when the shadow guy who appears to be acting on no more than primal instinct and who’s first reaction to a problem is “corrupt/ smash it.” is the smartest of the villains.
